In an interview, while talking about problems that could face Singapore, he added that the 4G leaders are familiar with the issues, having been in politics for some time, and are ready for the General Elections.

New Tourist Visa Allow Singaporeans to Visit Saudi Arabia

Singapore, together with 48 other countries (including Malaysia, FYI), will now be offered a new tourist visa that allows Singaporeans to visit Saudi Arabia. Previously, only resident workers and their dependants, business travellers and Muslim pilgrims with special visas to visit the holy cities of Mecca and Medina can enter Saudi Arabia.

It’s part of Saudi Arabia’s move to improve its tourism industry. In addition, female tourists would not need to wear all-covering black robes or abayas, though they still need to dress modestly.

Visas will cost S$147 each and can be obtained on arrival or online.

Body of 61-Year-Old Man Found in Canal Along Marine Parade Road

On Friday (27 September 2019) evening, a body belonging to a 61-year-old man was found in a canal along Marine Parade Road.

It was floating and SCDF officers had to retrieve the body using a ladder.

The police have classified it as an unnatural death and are investigating the case.

More Elderly Pedestrians Got into Traffic Accidents Mainly Due to Jaywalking

There is a whopping 59.1% increase in the number of accidents involving people above 60 years old in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.

One-third of the cases were attributed to jaywalking.

Also, 17 elderly pedestrians were killed in traffic accident in the first half of this year, compared to 11 in the same period last year.

The SPF, therefore, has this to say: “For their safety, elderly pedestrians should use pedestrian crossings when crossing the roads, and refrain from jaywalking。”

Water Level in JB Reservoir That Provides Water to Singapore Has Fallen by 50%

The dry season isn’t just bringing in the haze; it’s also depleting one of our sources of water, too.

We should all know that we get our water from JB, and it’s through the Lingiu Reservoir. The water level there has fallen to below 50% due to the dry weather; the last time that happened was in 2015 (which we’ve had a baddy haze, too) and 2016.

If this continues, it might compromise the water supply to Singapore. So guys, maybe it’s time to stop showering for 45 minutes? Or maybe pray for more rain?
