Elderly Couple Escape Unhurt From Burning Car After Accident With Motorcycle

An elderly couple managed to escape unhurt from their burning Toyota Rush after an accident with a motorcyclist.

The car burst into flames in Eng Neo Avenue after the motorcycle apparently hit the curb, caught fire, and skid under it on Saturday evening (28 December).

The 23-year-old motorcyclist suffered minor injuries. He was conscious when taken to National University Hospital.

6YO Boy Taken To Hospital After Accident With PMD Near MBS

A six-year-old boy was taken to hospital after an accident with a personal mobility device (PMD) on Sunday (29 December).

The accident occurred at 10 Bayfront Avenue, near the ArtScience Museum and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, at about 12.45am.

The six-year-old boy was conscious when he was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

A 17-year-old boy, who was riding the PMD, was subsequently arrested for causing hurt by a rash act.

LTA Warns Public After App That Provides Carpool Between SG & JB Is Announced

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that foreign-registered vehicles are not allowed to provide cross-border passenger transport services for hire or reward in Singapore without a valid public service vehicle licence (PSVL).

This statement comes as a response to queries about a new carpooling app, Sameride, that facilitates carpooling services between Singapore and Johor Bahru (JB).

Sameride estimates that users will be able to significantly reduce the cost of their commute between Johor and Singapore by up to half compared to taxi services.

However, drivers who are caught providing hire-and-reward services, including cross-border carpooling service without a valid PSVL, can be jailed up to six months, fined up to $3,000 or both.

Fire Breaks Out At Tagore Drive Building, SCDF Mobilises 16 Emergency Vehicles

A fire broke out at a four-storey industrial building at No. 8 Tagore Drive on Saturday morning (Dec 28).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) mobilised 16 emergency vehicles and 50 firefighters to the scene after it was alerted to the fire at 12.20am.

SCDF said the building was heavily smoke-logged and firefighters had poor visibility. Three water jets were used to bring the fire under control, and it was extinguished at 8.15am.

Investigations are ongoing.

Doxxing Laws will Officially Be Enforceable from Jan 2020

The enforcement of laws criminalising doxxing will come into force from 1 Jan 2020.

The amendment criminalises the publication of personal information with the intention of harassing, threatening, or facilitating violence against a person.

This includes the publication of photographs, contact numbers, addresses, and employment details.

Those charged with doxxing can face a fine of up to S$5,000 or a jail term of up to six months if the intention was to cause harassment.
