64YO Driver Arrested After Accident At Lucky Plaza Left Two Dead And Four Injured 

A black Honda Vezel ploughed through a pavement railing and plunged several metres, before landing on the exit lane of the Lucky Plaza carpark, killing two women and injuring four others.

The police say they were alerted to the incident at 4.58 pm on Sunday (29 December).

Four of the women, aged 37 to 56, were conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Two women aged 41 and 50, were unconscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where they later succumbed to their injuries.

The 64-year-old driver has been arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

SMU Student Allegedly Molested Woman In Study Room On Campus

A Singapore Management University (SMU) student is accused of molesting a 21-year-old woman on campus early this year.

23-year-old Lee Yan Ru allegedly rubbed his exposed genitals against her chest in a study room at SMU’s School of Economics and Social Sciences at around 6.30am on 8 Jan.

The woman, who was not an SMU student, went to SMU to study with Lee.

The university had released a statement earlier saying the case was being taken “very seriously”.

Two Men Taken To Court Over Stabbing Incident In Jurong East

Shukry Rezza Arman, a 23-year-old, allegedly stabbed a man multiple times with a penknife at a Housing Board block in Jurong East.

The incident occurred just six months after his release from prison.

The stabbing allegedly occurred on the second-storey corridor of Block 248 Jurong East Street 24.

Another man, Fadly Afiq Felani Razali, 30, was also made to appear in court as he is accused of consorting with Shukry at the carpark of the Jurong East block while Shukry had the penknife.

HDB Launches Tender For Two Executive Condo Sites

The Housing Board (HDB) launched two executive condominium (EC) sites at Fernvale Lane and Tampines Street 62 for sale by public tender on Monday (30 Dec).

HDB said that both sites could potentially yield up to 1,100 resident units.

The Fernvale land parcel has a site area of 17,129.9 sq m. It is estimated to yield around 480 units.

The Tampines site has a site area of 23,799.2 sq m. It is estimated to yield 595 units.

Electricity Tariffs To Rise 3.5% In First Quarter Of 2020

Electricity tariffs are set to rise by an average of 3.5 per cent in the first quarter of next year, SP Group said on Monday (30 Dec).

Tariffs will increase by 0.81 cents per kilowatt hour (kwh) from 1 Jan to 31 March.

For households powered by SP Group, this would mean a rise from 23.43 cents per kwh to 24.24 cents per kwh.

This is the highest it has been since the period from October to December 2014, when it was 25.28 cents before GST.
