PCF Converting 80 Kindergartens To Childcare Centres Over Next 4 years

Singapore’s largest pre-school operator, the PAP Community Foundation (PCF), will convert 80 of its kindergartens to facilities offering full-day childcare.

This is part of the government’s plan to increase the number of childcare spaces, especially in younger estates, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

More than 50 PCF kindergartens underwent this conversion last year.

7 Singaporean Hikers Rescued From Mount Raung In Indonesia After Forest Fires

Seven Singaporean hikers were rescued from Indonesia’s Mount Raung after they were trapped overnight by forest fires.

After the forest fires broke out, their hiking paths were inaccessible, trapping the seven hikers along with two guides, two porters, and two Indonesian climbers.

A joint search and rescue task force rescued the 13 climbers, some of whom suffered mild burns and abrasions.

Radin Mas Community Club Is Singapore’s First Smart CC

The recently upgraded Radin Mas Community Club (CC) will offer Singaporeans a glimpse into the future of Singapore community clubs.

After nearly three years of renovations, the new CC now has several smart initiatives, such as a dedicated Cyber Space where residents can read e-newspapers or browse e-books using e-library terminals.

Staff will also no longer have to use keys for many of the rooms, as there are facial recognition door locks installed throughout the building.

The Ministry of Manpower announced that a free dispute resolution service will be introduced by the end of October to help resolve issues that employers have with their maids or maid agencies.

This service is one of many measures that will be progressively introduced over the next two years.

Disadvantage Families In Toa Payoh To Benefit From Charity Food Vending Machine

Disadvantaged families living in Toa Payoh will soon be able to get the food they need for free.

A vending machine that will be installed by mid-October will dispense donated food close to its expiry date.

The vending machine will have everything from baked beans and Cassava chips to white rice and lollipops.
