PUB Releases Thousands Of Fishes In Pandan Reservoir To Combat Midge Population
PUB, Singapore’s national water agency released tens of thousands of guppies, mollies and swordtails into Pandan Reservoir due to the rise in the number of insects. The fishes will eat the pupae of midges in the water.
Besides this, PUB is also greasing the walls of drains to trap midges when they land. The reason for the increase in insects is the exceptionally hot weather Singapore experienced in July, the hottest since 1929.

Wet Market Owner Partly To Blame After Woman Slipped On Oil Splatter And Was Injured
A woman who slipped and fractured her tailbone at a wet market will receive compensation. A judge placed 65 percent on the owner and operator of the premises. This was because the case was unique in that it involved spilt oil on the floor and not a wet floor.
The judge assigned 35 percent blame to Ms Lim for the fall. This means that she will get 65 percent of the awarded sum. Personal injury claims in the State Courts are for awards of up to $250,000.

US Authorities Confirm That Singaporean Tan Wei Was One Of The Victims Of California Boat Fire
The US authorities have confirmed that Singaporean Tan Wei was one of the 34 victims who died in the California Boat Fire. The incident happened on a dive boat at the California coast a week ago.
She was 26 years old at the time and had just finished her Masters at The University Of California, Berkeley. Santa Barbara County Sheriff-Coroner Bill Brown said his office has contacted the family of all 34 victims.

6 Flights Between Singapore And South Korea Rescheduled Due To Typhoon Lingling
6 flights between Singapore and South Korea were rescheduled on Saturday, 7 September 2019. 4 Singapore Airlines (SIA) and 2 Silk Air flights were affected. For instance, flight SQ611, scheduled to depart at 11.20am from Seoul, was retimed to 9.35am.
South Korean Ministry of Interior and Safety said that strong winds and rain from the typhoon affected Jeju Island and southern mainland regions.
