PMD Battery Catches Fire While Charging In Bukit Batok Flat; Man & Baby Taken To Hospital

Another day, another PMD fire.

A man and a female baby were brought to Singapore General Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out.

A personal mobility device (PMD) had caught fire yesterday morning.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that their staff used a water jet to put out the fire in the bedroom.

SRX: Condo Resale Prices Increased 0.2% In September; Sales Volume Falls

Resale prices of non-landed private residential properties in Singapore increased slightly in September. However, the volume of sales decreased.

This is according to data from real estate portal SRX Property yesterday.

Compared to last year, resale prices increase by 0.8% in September 2018. All regions also experienced higher year-on-year prices.

Parliament To Announce New Rules On Use Of Drones With Stricter Penalties For Offences

New regulations that will cover drone usage could take into effect “as soon as the end of this year”.

These include compulsory registration of all devices with a take-off weight of above 250g and a minimum operator of 16-years-old.  These are some of the recommendations the Transport Ministry has approved from an advisory panel.

Besides these, new measures that panel had recommended include making an unmanned aircraft identifiable and capping the registration fee of a drone at $20.

E-scooter Rider Who Caused Victim To Have Shin Fracture In Accident Given 6 Weeks Jail 

A man who rode a non-compliant e-scooter and was speeding struck a pedestrian. This caused the victim to suffer a possible fracture to his right shin bone.

The Active Mobility Regulations 2018 states that the maximum speed for personal mobility devices isn’t allowed to exceed 25kmh under all circumstances.

His e-scooter was also found to be 6kg heavier than the allowed 20kg weight limit for personal mobility devices.

Public Transport Fares to Increase from 28 December 2019

It’s confirmed. The fares are increasing, and it’s a rather steep raise.

Yesterday, it was announced that from 28 December 2019, cash and single ticket fares will increase by $0.20 per trip, while fares with your trusty Ez-Link card will be increased by $0.09.

Adult monthly travel passes will increase to $128 from $120.

But there’s a good news for poly students: they’re finally getting the student fare price that’ll be capped at $0.63 per journey.
