Do you always see that notification on your phone telling you that you lack storage every time you try to take a photo? It’s frustrating as hell, isn’t it? And for iPhone users, if you’ve paid extra to upgrade to more storage for your iCloud, it’ll be doubly worse if that damn notification pops up. Well, here’s a couple of ways you can use to increase your smartphone’s storage.
Use SD card
This one works only for Android phones. The latest Samsung S7 can hold an SD card of up to 128GB – which is plenty of space for all your stuff. SD cards may be a little pricey but hey, think of it as an investment, right?
Delete unnecessary apps
Check your phone and see what are the apps you have never used before or hardly use. Remove those apps especially if they take up a lot of space. Deleting unnecessary apps is the best method ever – it’s convenient if you really need to take a photo there and then. If you’re using Android phones, remember to clear data or use a free cleaner to clear up residue files.
Turn off your Photo Stream
If you are an Apple User, there is the photo stream function that allows you to share your photos with your other devices. Turn that off especially if you have lots of photos in your other devices. It’s one of the things that take up your storage space without you realising it.
USB OTG
This only applies for Android phones that support the USB On-the-Go device. If your phone supports the system, go ahead and get an OTG adaptor that lets you store your photos in the device. It’s portable! And best of all, USB drives are cheaper.
Delete your photos
Another simple method to free storage space. Transfer old photos onto your laptop and then delete them from your phone. Don’t be too attached to those pictures because you won’t have space for other pictures and memories. If you have 20 pictures of the same selfie or same image then delete 19 and keep one best photo. Don’t be a hoarder. You’ll thank us for it.
