New Measures in S’pore for Wuhan Virus Includes Compulsory 14-Day Leave for People Returning from China
The newly-formed Wuhan virus ministerial taskforce announced that several new measures will be introduced to contain the Wuhan coronavirus.
For one, Singaporeans are now advised to avoid non-essential travel to mainland China.
Temperature screening at airports will now cover all incoming flights, with additional scrutiny on all flights from mainland China, and checks on all passengers with Hubei passports.
Moreover, workers and students returning from China will have to give health and travel declarations to their respective organisations, and do health monitoring with temperature checks twice a day for 14 days from their return.
And those working in close contact with vulnerable poplulations will have 14 days compulsory leave of absence upon return to Singapore.

Some University Residences Are Being Used for Quarantine Proposes
The residences of three universities in the country are being converted into goverment quarantine facilities.
These include the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Singapore Management University (SMU).
Many students were asked to vacate their rooms in less than 24 hours.

Up To 3 Students In Every Singapore School Likely To Be Affected Mandated Leave of Absence
As a precautionary measure, all students and workers who returned from China in the past 14 days will have to take 14 days’ leave of absence.
This mandate will apply to those in Ministry of Education (MOE) kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, special education schools, as well as junior colleges and polytechnics.
The move may affect up to 800 students returning from China, who will have to engage in home-based learning during the two-weeks missed.

POFMA, For the First Time, Issues Correction Notice to Hardwarezone’s EDMW
The office overseeing the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) has issued a general correction notice to SPH Magazines over a post on HardwareZone Forum.
One poster on the forum falsely claimed that a man in Singapore had died from the Wuhan virus infection.
SPH Magazines, which operates HardwareZone Forum, complied with the correction notice in a post on Monday (27 Jan).

180 People Evacuate After Fire Breaks Out at Buangkok Condominium
Around 180 people had to evacuate after a fire broke out at Hougang Green condominium early Sunday morning (Jan 26).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they responded to a fire at 5 Buangkok Green at 5.50am.
Investigations revealed that the fire started from an electrical origin; a charging e-bike battery. The fire was eventually put out with a water jet.
