5YO Boy Found Dead In Car Near Bukit Timah Nature Reserve; Corpse Of 41YO Woman Found Nearby

We tend to take safety for granted in Singapore because of the low crime rate. We aren’t afraid to take strolls late in the night, even in secluded areas, because getting mugged or attacked simply isn’t a worry for many of us.

That’s why stories like this come as such a shock.

5YO Boy Found Dead In Car At Restricted Area In Bukit Timah, Corpse Of 41YO Woman Found Nearby

Two dead bodies were found at Lorong Sesuai near Bukit Timah on Thursday morning, Nov. 14.

The body of a five-year-old boy was found in a car, while the corpse of a 41-year-old woman lay on the ground nearby.

The woman, who is believed to be Japanese, is reported to be the mother of the child, according to Lianhe Zaobao.

Discovered in restricted area

Both bodies were discovered around 6am in a place believed to be a restricted area. A road nearby is marked with a “No entry” sign.

But whether the mother or child was involved in any illegal activity is unknown, reports Lianhe Zaobao.

Both the mother and child were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The case has been classified as an unnatural death and police investigations are ongoing.

Not the first time

This isn’t the first time a corpse has been found in Bukit Batok Nature Reserve.

In 2008, the dead body of a female victim was discovered in the park by joggers.

And in 2000, a 27-year-old jogger was assaulted while jogging alone in the same nature reserve. She was raped and then clubbed on the head by her assailant. Her attacker, however, was never found.

The police have not yet commented on any possible causes of death, but we hope that the authorities will soon get to the root of this morbid matter.
