Singapore might be a foodie’s haven, but in Asia, there’s another fierce competitor: Taiwan. This country is known for its fantastic nature, friendly people and of course, its unique variety of food.
Its multitudes of night markets already bear testament to how much the Taiwanese love their food, and you can definitely see the shine in their eyes when you ask for recommendations. Here’s some desserts that you absolutely should not miss!
Artisanal ice-cream
Have you seen more gorgeous ice-cream sundaes? The cafe 三星園京都宇治抹茶 in Taichung and Kaohsiung specialises in Matcha desserts, even releasing a special strawberry edition that combined both strawberry and matcha into heavenly dessert.
Shaved ice desserts

Ombre milk tea
The Taiwanese are proud of their creation–the bubble tea. However, have you seen more instagrammable bubble tea than these? The 端倪生活 cafe in Changhua comes up with such beautiful pastel creations.
Healthy juices
For the health-conscious, the Blossoming Juice cafe in Taipei has healthy drinks that are made from fresh fruit juice.
Bubble tea pancakes
