Well, gone were the days when you need to take a plane or a never-ending bus journey to Kuala Lumpur. The latest SG-KL High Speed Rail is currently under construction, and it’s going to take us half the amount of time to get the KL. Heck, now you can even go for a day trip and still be able to report for work the next day!
The agreement will be signed later this month, and for those who are as stoked as we are about this new collaboration between the two countries, well, here’s what you need to know about the latst SG-KL High Speed Rail to prep yourselves for the near future!
1. It will be the first HSR service in SEA
The arrival of the SG-KL High Speed Rail would also mean that this will be the first HSR in South East Asia – quite an achievement for Singapore!
2. The journey to KL will now be cut short by a whole lot
It will only take 90-minutes at a top speed of 300 km/h to get from Singapore to KL when the high speed rail is up and running! The train will also run 4 times per hour.
3. This reality is happening pretty soon
The construction of the High Speed Rail will take place in 2018, and the tracks will be up and running by 2026. The train terminus will be set in place at Jurong East Terminus.
4. It will not only be stopping in KL
Other than KL, the train will also be travelling to 6 other domestic stops. These stations are Iskandar Puteri, Batu Pahat, Muar, Ayer Keroh, Seremban and Putrajaya. There will also be a shuttle service between Singapore and Iskandar Puteri in Johor.
5. You will be able to clear the immigration at one go
Just like the JB train service in Woodlands, passengers on the SG-KL high speed rail will be able to clear customs, immigration and quarantine for both countries at their point of departure, reducing hassle.
6. No prices are set yet
But it is said that the prices of these train fares will be competitive with the current air fares.
