Singaporeans love their eggs. And honestly it’s only right. When I traveled to Europe, there were hardly any eggs in the supermarket, and even if they do have eggs, it usually comes in cartons of 4 eggs only.

Eggs can be prepared easily and in many ways. Scrambled, sunny-side up, omelette and even soft-boiled eggs. Convinced yet? No? Here’s 6 reasons why you should have some sort of eggs in your breakfast.

You won’t get hungry too easily
Because eggs are high in protein, it gives you the energy you need for the day. You don’t have to snack before lunchtime because your tummy will be pretty full.

Which also means you can lose weight
Since eating eggs keeps you full till lunchtime, you won’t have to snack and so, no gaining weight! A group of women were asked to eat bagels while the other group ate eggs for breakfast in a study on overweight women. After 2 months, the women who ate eggs for breakfast lost the most weight even though the two items contained the same calories.

It doesn’t always affect your blood cholesterol
Some people avoid eating eggs because they think that eggs will increase their bad cholesterol. Well, though eggs are high in cholesterol, it almost never affects your blood cholesterol. According to a study, for about 70% of people, eating eggs didn’t affect their blood cholesterol at all.

In fact, it increases your good cholesterol
That’s right. Eating eggs is good for you! It increases your good cholesterol which means you’ll have lesser risks of getting diseases.

It’s good for the eyes
Now you can tell your ma to stop cooking you carrots. Eggs have Vitamin A which is essential for good eyesight. Vitamin A deficiency is usually what causes you to lose your eyesight. So as you get older, it’s important for you to eat eggs. Mummies should also feed their children eggs! (Especially if you’ve tried all means and ways to get them to eat carrots.)

Eggs are cheap
Well, in Singapore at least. While prices may have been rising, it’s true that eggs are still relatively cheap. So if your husband says you’re such a cheapskate because you only cook him eggs for breakfast, show him this article.
