There will always be predators and prey.

Or, ahem, pervs and their victims.

On 4 July 2018, 67-year-old Singaporean security officer Marimuthu boarded the MRT at Yio Chu Kang Station.

And so did his 20-year-old victim.

Marimuthu sat beside the 20-year-old man and started staring at him.

Marimuthu even licked his lips.

This made the 20-year-old man really uncomfortable and like anyone who is uncomfortable, he moved to another seat.

I would have done the same.

Marimuthu gestured for the young man to sit next to him. He pointed to his pocket and offered to give his victim money.

This guy doesn’t give up easily, does he?

Seeing that the young man was ignoring him, Marimuthu again switched seats to sit next to the 20-year-old man.

And showed him a pornographic video.

I really don’t know how I would have reacted to this. Really can’t say. Might even have flipped him the bird.

And just when you thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse.

Marimuthu ran his hand over the victim’s thigh.

The young man got off earlier than expected at Bukit Gombak station and Marimuthu followed him, even asking him to slow down.

The 20-year-old then immediately lodged a police report.

Verdict

In court, Public Prosecutor Joshua Lim sentenced Marimuthu to 3 weeks jail.

This was in spite of Marimuthu saying that he had a sickly daughter and an elderly wife to support. Marimuthu also said that he was a Christian and was deeply regretful of his actions. Marimuthu asked for a fine instead because he was afraid of the dark.

Lol what?

Public Prosecutor Joshua Lim, however, insisted on the jail term as Marimuthu repeatedly pursued the victim, which shows a certain level of criminal intent.

Marimuthu pleaded guilty to one charge of outrage of modesty.
