Oh, yes, my friend, I know this is going to be one of the most embarrassing questions you’ve always wanted to ask but never dared to do so: is it common to shower and pee at the same time? Are you the only one doing it, or everyone does that as well?

Well, there’re no official statistics about the number of people who do that, but at least from our Googling, it turns out that it’s pretty much common: when someone asked in Reddit whether people pee when they shower, ALL people admitted to doing so, and one person aptly summed it up: “Everyone pees in the shower. And if you don’t, you’re a liar.”

Okay, now that the facts are more or less established, you’ll be surprised to know that there are apparently benefits of showering and peeing at the same time. And no, we’re not joking, although we’re laughing now.

It strengthens your pelvic floor muscles
I kid you not: according to goop.com, if you squat down while showering and pee at the same time (primarily for the ladies, obviously!), you’ll engage your pelvic floor as it automatically stretches and tones itself. It’s just that with modern toilets, we seldom squat down to do our business now, so this is a good way to tone our pelvic floor muscles.

It saves a lot of money
This is pretty self-explanatory, but here’s the thing: it’s not just what you think. In Brazil, there’re TV ads that encourage people to pee in the showers because of how much they can save: a household can save up to 4,380 litres of water annually. Imagine how much water and money are saved if everyone pees in the shower daily.

It could be more hygienic
Let me ask you a simple question: between washing a dirty table with a rush of water and using tissue paper to wipe it, what would make the table cleaner? The former? Now, imagine that you’re the table. I rest my case.

The flow is smoother
Come on, let’s admit it: in a typical pee, you tend to focus on two things: your smartphone and whether you’ve aimed properly. Peeing in the shower means you just “let it go”—isn’t that a much better experience?

It’s very, very common
Okay, here’s one poll that might not be 100% accurate, but it’ll at least make you feel better knowing that people are doing the same thing: out of about 10,000 people who voted, about 80% admitted to peeing in the shower. Like what someone has said before, the 20% could be liars aliens very upright?

It helps in your foot rot
Singaporean males who have served in the army would be familiar with this: foot rot. But here’s one solution that no one has ever told you: peeing on your feet is one of the remedies. No kidding. If you can leave the pee on your feet longer, it would be better!

It’s fun
Aiming for the drain and missing it is pretty fun. Aiming for the toilet bowl and missing it means you’ll have pee to clear. So why not have some fun practising your aim while you’re showering?
