Where do you shop for groceries? For me, price does matter a whole lot when I shop because I wouldn’t want to pay an additional S$1 for the same item that I can get at a waaaay lower price – which is why I sometimes turn to the ValuDollar store.
Not only does it have anything and everything I need, it also sells them below market rate. That being said, here are 10 facts you 10 facts you probably didn’t know about ValuDollar, the to-go for the cheapest groceries in S’pore!
It has almost anything and everything – even down to underwear
And I’m not even kidding. Underwear, shampoo, food and even down to the basic household necessities. Once you step into a ValuDollar Store, you will never come out empty-handed – unless everyone else have already snagged all the goodies away.
It is cheaper than Daiso
Yup. Even though Daiso is known for its S$2 merchandises, here at the ValuDollar Store, you can definitely find something that is even cheaper than S$2.
A pack of Kettle Potato Chips only cost S$3
The highly sought-after Kettle Potato Chips can cost up to S$5 a packet when you purchase them at Cold Storage or Fair Price. Truth be told, I have even seen some stores selling them for S$6?! Therefore, finding them at only S$3 is really a steal. For those who have not tried this brand of potato chips, I highly recommend the Honey Dijon flavour.
The ValuDollar Store at Sembawang Shopping Centre is the cheapest of them all
One whole pack of 12 super glues for only S$1? A packet of Cadbury Hot Chocolate powder for S$2?! No, I’m not even kidding. The store marks down all the prices as it is said to be closing down, but it has been half a year since they proclaimed that and they’re still very alive and kicking.
All the products are legit
Many people doubt if the products are legit, since it may seem rather dubious that they are selling them at such a low cost. But yes, these products are 100% real and there’s a reason why they’re selling it at such a low cost which will be explained below.
It sells chocolates from UK and US
Yup, even those that you thought you might not be able to find in Singapore, such as the Christmas M&Ms and both the UK and US versions of Kit Kat.
Remember to check the expiry date
Even though the food sold there can be unbelievably affordable, do remember to look out for the expiry dates. Many times, these foods are so cheap as they are already nearing their expiry date and only have around 1-2 months of shelf life left. So do not purchase them unless you are certain that you can finish them!
