Police have identified a 40-year-old man after a 73-year-old man was allegedly shoved to the ground during a confrontation at a food court in Roxy Square.
The incident happened at about 4:40pm on 15 August 2026 at 50 East Coast Road.
Police confirmed on 16 August that a report had been lodged and investigations were ongoing.
Elderly Man Had Patted a Girl on the Head
According to the older man’s family, he had been walking past a table while using nearby tables for support when he briefly patted a young girl on the head.
The family alleged that the girl’s father became upset and confronted him.
Closed-circuit television footage shared online showed the two men facing each other before the older man was shoved and fell backwards onto the floor.
These accounts have not been established by police, who are still investigating what happened.
The older man’s relatives reportedly helped him to his feet. According to the family, the other man later sat with him, apologised and offered him a drink.
Older Man Experienced Back Pain Later
The 73-year-old, identified by 8world as Mr Yeo Song Khoon, said he began experiencing back pain two to three hours after the incident.
He told the outlet that medication had brought the pain under control and that he would consider seeking further treatment depending on his condition.
Despite the pain, Mr Yeo said he was willing to let the matter go as he did not want to create further trouble.
His family had earlier appealed online for information about the other people involved. Police subsequently confirmed that they had identified a 40-year-old man in connection with the case.
No charge or arrest was announced in the police response reported by CNA.
Police also urged members of the public not to speculate about the incident or its circumstances, and to allow investigators to establish the facts.
