You probably know about someone who complains that littering can kill people.
Maybe they’re someone shouting about global warming and climate change. Maybe they’re someone talking about how it makes streets unclean and unhygienic.
In this case, it seems like a 74-year-old literally died from littering.

Sudden thud during a housewarming party
The original article can be found in Straits Times. A family was having a housewarming party in the Spottswoode 18 condominium on 18 Aug 2019.
The father Mr Nasiari Sunee, a delivery driver, had sat down on the condominium BBQ pit area to eat, with his wife and relatives right beside him.
So, seems pretty safe and everything, right? Just a normal day with the family.
Suddenly, they heard a loud thud, followed by another one.
Injured
Mr Nasiari was on the ground and bleeding from the head. His wife also seemed to have gotten some bruises on her shoulder.
Madam Suriati Nasiari, a 44-year-old service manager and oldest of Mr Nasiari’s 4 children, said they saw a glass bottle on the table, which they believed had caused the incident.
It seems ridiculous, but given the circumstances, this seemed like the most plausible situation.

One of their relatives, who is a nurse, gave emergency medical care to Mr Nasiari before he was taken to Singapore General Hospital at 8.35 pm.
Heart stopped 3 times during treatment
You already knew the ending from the title. So here it is: the family didn’t want to prolong the pain and had decided that if his heart stopped for the 4th time, they resuscitation efforts would be stopped.
Mr Nasiari’s blood pressure dropped in the next morning, and he died around 9 am.
According to Mr Nas Muhammad Nasta’in, the elder son, Mr Nasiari has 9 grandchildren and was well-loved by family and neighbours. His cousins would even call him “Ayah”, which is Malay for “father”.
“In the last two days, we have cried enough. We are putting aside our grief and staying strong for our mum.”

Police looking for the litterbug
The family called the police after the incident, and also tried to look for the person who threw the litter.
Police investigating the case said this was classified as a rash act causing death.
Death caused by rash acts carries a punishment of up to 5 years, or fine, or both.
No arrests have been made thus far.
We don’t really know what caused the bottle to drop from the condominium.

It could be some kid who accidentally pushed the bottle down. It could be some couple quarrelling and random throwing stuff. Or it could be a misplaced bottle pushed down by a cat.
This really shouldn’t need a PSA, but don’t litter. Throwing it out a window is worse.
I’m sure you’ve seen those gangster movies using glass bottles to smash people’s heads. A glass bottle accelerating from the height of a building is going to impact with more force than any arm can muster.
For those who have stuff on their windows for whatever reason: rearrange them, please.
Would you be jailed for being half-naked in public? Well, the answer will shock you. Seriously. Watch this to the end and you'll understand:
