Football School Organizes Fundraiser to Honor Young Boy

The seven-year-old Singaporean boy who died in a fatal accident in Bandar Dato Onn, Johor Bahru, was a football fan and he had been planning to join a football school in Singapore.

His dreams of becoming a young footballer were cut short by the tragedy.

Now, the football school is organizing a fundraising event for him and will make jerseys with the boy’s name to give to his family.

Shin Min Daily News previously reported that on 16 Mar 2025, at about 10:10 PM, a lorry driver under the influence of drugs lost control at the 2.4-kilometer mark of the coastal highway in Bandar Dato Onn, Johor Bahru.

The vehicle crossed the divider and collided with an oncoming car from Singapore.

The car was carrying a Singaporean family of four and an Indonesian domestic helper.

The seven-year-old boy was thrown out of the vehicle and pronounced dead at the hospital. The boy’s father and domestic helper were severely injured in the accident.

Family Raises Funds Following Tragedy

The boy who unfortunately passed away was named Noah. He had been planning to learn football after returning to Singapore.

Local football school Soaring Dreams FA recently posted on RedNote that Noah’s family is raising funds.

The founder, Mr Wang (39, name transliterated from Mandarin), said in an interview that Noah’s two older cousins are students at the football school that Noah had also planned to join.

“The whole family loves football. It’s very unfortunate that he couldn’t fulfil his dreams because of the car accident,” Mr Wang said.

Mr Wang said that after learning about their fundraising efforts, he decided to use his platform to let people who wanted to help know about the situation.

“Next Sunday morning, we will hold a fundraising football event at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School. People who attend can play football, and I will also give the family’s PAYNOW number to those who wish to donate,” he said.

He pointed out that to commemorate this student who never had the chance to join, the school will also make jerseys printed with his name to give to the family as a memento.

“I also hope to do my small part to help this family through this difficult time,” he added.
