Despite what the headline implies, the perpetrator behind the stomping of a grab car isn’t an actual 26-year-old monkey. Rather, it’s a grown ass man trying to impersonate one.
Which makes it all the more sad: what has the world come to, for 26-year-old men to abandon all rationality and embrace their innate animalistic instincts?
Indeed, you can’t help but wonder how the world’s gonna turn out in 20 years, but before you decide to stock up your storeroom and live in it for the rest of your life in exasperation, why not read these 8 Facts About the Stomping of Grab Car by a 26-Year-Old Monkey first?
Trust me, it’s interesting.
Kinda.
1. It all started with Facebook
Or to be more specific, a Facebook post.
After someone supposedly “jumped” on his father’s car, the evidently irate son took to Facebook in an attempt to ‘publicise’ the culprit.
The transcript of the post reads as follows:
“Hello!! Do u have nothing better to do than to bully a 72 years old grab driver? My dad has done nothing to provoke u. You jumped on his car and your friend even shouted “ we apologised already, what’s more u want?” Fearing for his safety, my dad drove off to prevent confrontation. Please share and make him famous. Dun think you can escape just like this. I will get you! Pls pm me if anyone knows the perpetrator. Thanks”
And that leads us to…
2. The Incriminating Evidence
A.K.A. black box video footage.
The original video, together with images, were Shared over 8K times, and it has since been republished in many popular Facebook Pages Like ROADS.sg (172K views) and Stomp (20K views).
In the video, the cabby can be seen driving outside St James Power Station when he reached the the vicinity of Envy Dance Club.
As a string of young individuals walked by on the sidewalk, one of them, decked out in a black cap with a matching T-shirt, came rushing out and leapt onto the car’s bonnet.
The perpetrator then proceeds to treat the car as his personal London Bridge, stepping onto the roof of the car before exiting the other way.
3. That’s not all
In an interview with Channel News Asia, Mr Koh (Facebook user Belleiansa Xu) revealed that that wasn’t the end, and it could have actually gotten worse.
“He told me that he could have stepped on the accelerator and caused the guy to fall. Fortunately he had maintained his composure,” he said.
“When he got out of the car to check on the damages, the guy who stomped on his car wanted to come at him,” he said, adding that the perpetrator’s friends “held (the perpetrator) back” and one of them walked over to apologise.
Added Mr Koh: “My dad told him that damage had been done to his car and that he would have gladly accepted it otherwise.
“On hearing that, the guy threatened my dad, (saying) that he was already being nice to apologise, and asked my dad what more he wanted, insinuating he wanted to fight if my dad refused to let the matter rest.”
It was then that Mr Koh’s father drove off “fearing for his own safety”, and subsequently lodged a police report.
4. Public Disapproval
Netizens were enraged.
The post, having garnered a whopping 8.6K shares, even attracted the attention of local Netizen site Stomp, which went on to craft an article on it.
5. Arrest
The perpetrator was subsequently arrested.
First disclosed by the original Facebook user, the news was later reported on the likes of Straits Times and Channel News Asia.
Transcript:
“Thank you guys who had helped me share and like. The perpetrator has been arrested this morning to a case of rash act. I had never expected such an overwhelming response. I received so many calls from brothers and messages from public to offer help. I personally would like to thank SG Road Vigilante, Road.sg, stomp, sureboh sg etc for helping me post on their respective pages. You guys are awesome. With the closure of this episode, I hope we can all put this behind us and move on. Thank u so much.”
Stomp was eventually contacted to relay a police statement:
“On May 5 at about 3am, the police were alerted to a case of rash act at 3 Sentosa Gateway.
“A 26-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the case and he will be charged in court on May 7, 2018.”
That’s very efficient. Could someone from SPF work in SMRT, please?
6. Public Approval
Pretty overjoyed, to say the least.
Just a personal thought, but it’ll probably be nice to steer clear of Netizens. Their savagery, in my very honest opinion, clearly knows no bounds. #ouch
7. Charged in court
As expressed earlier on, the perpetrator (whom we shall decline to name for now) will be charged in court today (7 May 2018).
According to Stomp, there is a need to replace the roof of the car, which could cost up to $10,000.
The culprit is now on bail of $5,000 and would be back in court on 24 May 2018. The driver doesn’t want to press charges but if the culprit refused to pay the repair costs and loss of income, he would be forced to so do.

8. Consequences
It seems that the damage has been done, and I’m not talking about the “attack” on the car.
Having originally committed himself to six days a week from 5:00 p.m. to around 6:00 a.m., Mr Koh revealed that following the incident, his father has been returning home earlier at around 2:00 a.m.
Coincidence?
I think not.
Now, as a professional writer of sorts, I’m expected to constantly be neutral and adopt an objective stance on matters, no matter how heinous and irritating the aforementioned matter can get.
As such, here’s a video of monkeys jumping on a car to express my view.

Peace, Zhi Hao out.
There’s a very fake news about Robert Downey Jr. and surprisingly, it is still gaining traction online.
