Let’s face it. Suicide Squad might be the next big thing after Captian America: Civil war and X-Men Apocalypse. This movie is one of the biggest and most exciting projects that are currently in production, and we honestly can’t wait for it to arrive in Singapore. Fans of Suicide Squad, here are some facts that you might want to know before the movie hits the shores on 4 August.
1.What exactly is the Suicide Squad?
The Suicide Squad is a team of bad guys who were imprisoned but offered a chance of a clean record if they helped the government with their black-ops operation. Because these people are criminally insane, Amanda Waller, the director of the entire operation, had to put a failsafe in place to control them. Each member is implanted with a micro-bomb that can be detonated by Waller should any member go rogue.
2. The Joker is not part of the squad
In fact, he might even be the squad’s biggest nemesis. I mean, what’s new? Since everyone already knows that Joker cannot be controlled. Which is why we can’t wait to see the kind of twisted relationship between Joker and Harley Quinn.
3. The Dark Knight rises in the movie (again)
From the trailer, we have seen what seems to be a silhouette of Batman, but we are still unsure of how much screen time he has, or who Batman is played by. Let’s just hope that it’s not Ben Affleck, shall we. #teamChristianBale
4. #SKWAD goals
A majority of the casts and crew members got the tattoo #SKWAD in honor of the movie such as Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Will Smith (Deadshot).
5. Jared Leto was so absorbed in the role of the Joker
Jared Leto, who plays Joker, in the movie, was so absorbed in the role of the Joker that he couldn’t break out of character on set even when he has stopped filming. He even sent weird “Joker-like” presents such as a rat to Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), bullets to Will Smith (Deadshot), a soiled Playboy magazine and even a dead hog to the whole crew.
6. Who is Harley Quinn?
Those who have seen the trailer would have noticed a skimpily clad girl that’s always armed with either a rifle or hammer mallet. In the comics, Harley Quinn is a deranged team leader (alongside DeadShot) who’s also the love interest of the Joker. Dr. Harleen Quinzel used to be The Joker’s therapist at Arkham Asylum, who was later lured into a twisted love affair with the villain.
7.The first comic film to feature a team of Super-Villians
Unlike most action-hero movies we have watched, this is the first movie that features a team of Super Villians, and they are bad to the bone. None of the things that they do are heroic, other than the fact that they are out to catch other villains of their kind, which makes them cooler and even more sought-after.
8. Ryan Gosling could have been in the movie
Ryan Gosling was first approached to play the role of The Joker but turned it down because he didn’t want to sign on for a multi-picture deal that the studio was requiring.
IMAGINE ALL DEM ABS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ON SCREEN.
Suicide Squad will be showing at all cinemas in Singapore on August 4th.
