8 McDonald’s Meals from Around the World That Proves Nasi Lemak Burger is Just Mainstream

From Brazil to India, we give you a taste of both the wonderful and the weird.

Everyone likes McDonald’s – or at least, liked it sometime in their life. And why not? It’s cheap, convenient, and tastes crazy good.

Plus, there’s a meal for everyone. Spice up your afternoon with the McWings, or get the flavourful Filet o’ Fish with a side of fries. The possibilities are endless.

Apparently, Singapore isn’t the only place that adores the fast-food joint – the entire world does too. And they’ve come up with some creative concoctions that might sound delicious to some, but crazy to others. Here are 8 dishes we picked out that could fit either description – we’ll leave it to you to decide.

1. McNoodles

A stir-fry bowl with noodles and vegetables, the McNoodles were sold for a limited period only. It took nearly 2 years for the fast-food joint to perfect their recipe, though. Doesn’t seem like a good investment.

2. McCurry Pan

Where: India

Ever heard of a soup bread bowl, where you can eat the entire dish – including the bowl? Well, this is essentially the same thing, except with a “pan”. Curried vegetables are baked in a cream sauce inside a crispy pan constructed from bread. If it tastes as good as it sounds, count us on board.

3. Modern China burger

Where: China

Best known as “the burger that horrified the internet”, the Modern China burger might just be the most unattractive burger ever created.

Kinder reviewers said that the buns were “silver”, while others called it “industrial” and granite-like. According to Time Out Beijing, the dish was no different from the “clouds of pollution” that often hang over the Chinese capital.

Surprisingly, those that have tried it said that it was actually quite tasty. Interesting.

4. Pao de Queijo

Where: Brazil

Pao de Queijo literally means “Brazillian cheese bread”. Brazilians have said that the bun makes for a great breakfast snack, and I believe them. You can never go wrong with cheese.

5. Pizzarotto

Where: Italy

Ah, the Italians. Always ten steps ahead of us when it comes to anything food-related. Mozzarella and tomato calzone – the ultimate combo. Perfecto.

6. The Peasant Soup

Where: Portugal

This probably doesn’t taste as bad as it sounds. The soup contains kidney beans, ham, pasta and olive oil – which kind of sounds like minestrone to me. Which tastes amazing.

7. McChocolate Potatoes

Where: Japan

If you’re one to dip your fries in ice-cream, you’ll love this. The McChocolate Potatoes is a portion of fries drizzled with milk chocolate and white chocolate sauce. Tempting.

8. Sausage, Egg And Twisty Pasta

Instead of saving the best for last, we’ve left the worst for last.

Undoubtedly the saddest meal of the list, this dish probably tastes as bad as it looks. Imagine having pasta, veggies, a poached egg and a slice of grilled chicken soaked in soup. I’d rather have a salad.
