The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 82 suspected drug offenders and seized controlled drugs estimated to be worth more than S$46,700 in a five-day islandwide operation from 14 to 18 September.
The operation covered areas including Ang Mo Kio, MacPherson, Geylang and Lavender, CNB said in a statement on 18 September.
The seized drugs included about 1,151g of cannabis, 146g of Ice, 45g of heroin, 9g of ketamine, four Ecstasy tablets and two LSD stamps.
CNB said the heroin, Ice and cannabis seized could potentially feed the addiction of 270 abusers for a week.
Three Foreign Nationals Arrested in Geylang
On the evening of 15 September, CNB officers arrested a 40-year-old male foreign national near Lorong 12 Geylang for suspected drug trafficking offences.
Follow-up investigations led officers to a hotel along Sims Avenue, where another two foreign nationals were arrested.
The two suspects were a 43-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both arrested for suspected drug offences.
CNB said officers recovered about 185g of cannabis, a small amount of Ice and Ecstasy, as well as drug paraphernalia from the 43-year-old man’s hotel room.
A search of the woman’s room found about 15g of Ice and drug paraphernalia.
13 Men Arrested at Geylang Residential Building
On the evening of 16 September, CNB conducted another enforcement operation at a private residential building along Lorong 22 Geylang.
Thirteen men were arrested for suspected drug offences.
Eleven of them, comprising three Singaporeans and eight foreign nationals aged between 20 and 53, were arrested from eight rooms in the building.
Two other foreign nationals, aged 26 and 31, were arrested on the ground floor of the premises.
About 12g of Ice and drug paraphernalia were seized during the operation.
Preliminary investigations found that all 13 men were suspected to have consumed controlled drugs, CNB said.
Investigations Ongoing
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Lim Sze Yuk, Deputy Director of CNB’s Enforcement Division, said the bureau would continue taking action against people suspected of drug abuse or trafficking.
CNB also warned business owners and operators that those who knowingly allow or facilitate drug activities on their premises may face enforcement action.
Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.
