A repeat offender who had been jailed multiple times for molestation is now once again imprisoned for molesting two people, one of them being an 11-year-old girl.
Poh Seng Khian, 86, pleaded guilty on 29 July to two charges of molestation and was sentenced to 10 months’ jail.
He was not represented in court and had pleaded for the court to give him a fine instead, saying that he was “old and about to die”.
He appeared in court in a wheelchair. However, he was not in a wheelchair during the time he committed his latest offences.
Molestation Incidents
On 23 October 2020, Poh was travelling in SBS Transit bus service 30 with a 27-year-old woman standing beside him.
Poh touched the victim’s arm around five times. Assuming that the contact was accidental, the victim moved back slightly.
According to Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Lim Woon Yee, Poh touched the woman’s left bicep repeatedly for around 15 seconds.
He then slowly rose from his seat with the assistance of his walking aid.
Poh then stood on a small step near the victim, still clutching his walking aid in his left hand.
He then pretended to fall down and stroked her right inner thigh with his hand.
The victim grabbed his forearm and in response, he apologised to her.
After getting down from the bus, she made a police report.
In another incident that occurred on 11 March, Poh went onboard Tower Transit bus service 98 and sat next to an 11-year-old girl.
He situated the handle of his walking aid on her lap and proceeded to molest her.
In response, the girl immediately pushed his hand away and removed the walking aid from her lap. She then alighted and told her mother about the incident.
The girl’s mother then took her to Jurong Neighbourhood Police Post to make a police report.

Poh could have faced imprisonment for up to 10 years and been caned for molesting a child below 14 years of age.
However, as he is more than 50 years old, he cannot be caned.
Molested a Woman in 2019 and Offered Her Husband $10 to Let Him Go
Poh had been sentenced to 18 weeks’ jail back in 2020 for one count of using criminal force on a 47-year-old woman.
He had used his elbow to bump into the victim’s breast. Her husband immediately confronted Poh and prevented him from leaving the scene.
Poh apologised for touching the woman’s breast and offered her husband S$10 to let him off.

Unsurprisingly, the man refused and Poh was arrested by the police.
