YouTube Premium is getting more expensive in Singapore again, with both its individual and family plans receiving their second price increase in about two years.
From 21 August 2026, an individual membership costs S$15.98 a month, up from S$13.98.
The family plan now costs S$31.98 a month, up from S$27.98. That plan can cover six people in total, comprising the person managing the plan and up to five other household members.
In dollar terms, that is an extra S$2 a month for individual subscribers and an extra S$4 for family subscribers.
New Subscribers Pay More Immediately, Existing Users Get Some Time
If you are signing up for YouTube Premium from 21 August, the new price applies immediately.
Existing subscribers will not necessarily see the higher charge on their next bill.
Instead, YouTube will apply the new monthly price from a subscriber’s first billing cycle that occurs at least 30 days after the price increase.
So if you already have Premium, there is no need to stare suspiciously at your bank app today. The higher bill will come later, depending on your billing date.
This Is the Second Increase in About Two Years
The latest change comes after YouTube raised its Singapore prices in September 2024.
At the time, the individual plan went from S$11.98 to S$13.98 a month, while the family plan jumped from S$17.98 to S$27.98.
YouTube Premium first arrived in Singapore in November 2019. At launch, the individual plan started at S$11.98 a month.
In other words, anyone who has been around since the early Premium days has now seen the subscription go through two rounds of price increases.
What Do You Still Get With YouTube Premium?
The main benefits remain the same.
Premium members can watch YouTube videos without regular ads, download videos for offline viewing and keep videos playing in the background on supported mobile devices. The subscription also includes YouTube Music Premium.
For family plans, YouTube requires the additional members to live in the same household as the family manager.
YouTube told subscribers that the latest increase would help it improve Premium while continuing to support creators and artists. CNA Lifestyle also reported that the company said it does not make pricing decisions lightly.
Whether the convenience of skipping ads is still worth S$15.98 or S$31.98 a month is now a calculation for each household to make. But for existing subscribers, at least the new number will not appear on the bill immediately.
