The National Stadium is being used rather differently this weekend, with K-pop dancing, gaming challenges, trading cards, a makers market and even a movie screening taking over the venue on 5 and 6 September.
The activities are part of the National Stadium Experience, which runs from 29 August to 20 September 2026.
According to 8world, The Kallang hopes such programmes can turn the National Stadium into a “third space” where different communities can meet and connect, rather than a venue people visit only when there is a major sporting event or concert.
Gaming Meets Exercise at the National Stadium
For those whose idea of exercise usually involves moving only their thumbs, the Overclocked Fitness Gaming Challenge by the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association might change that.
The challenge, running from 10.30am to 8pm over the weekend, combines physical exercises with video games across four consecutive stations.
Participants take on a Ring Fit chest press and squat challenge, play Taiko no Tatsujin and then test their shooting accuracy on a Valorant aim range.
Players begin with 1,000 points, with their positions tracked on a live leaderboard.
Trading-card collectors have their own corner too. The Collecta Fest TCG Card Show runs from 10am to 8pm, giving visitors a place to browse and trade cards and meet other collectors.
8world reported that the weekend is bringing interest groups that often interact online into the same physical space to meet face to face.
There’s Also K-pop Dancing and a Makers Market
On Saturday evening, Seoul Searching SG held a K-pop Random Play Dance session from 6pm to 7.30pm.
In a Random Play Dance, snippets of different K-pop songs are played and participants who recognise the choreography jump in to perform it.
The Kallang said this was the first time Seoul Searching SG had brought the activity to the National Stadium.
Meanwhile, the AL!VE Artisan Market by Invade runs from 11am to 7pm, featuring local makers as well as handcrafted, food and lifestyle products.
There is also The Rally from 9am to 7pm ahead of the Singapore Tennis Open, while Muay Thai tryouts are being held at various timings. The Muay Thai sessions are paid activities.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can also find an inflatable playground, open-mic karaoke and displays using the National Stadium’s LED roof.
A Minecraft Movie Will Be Screened on Sunday Evening
The weekend wraps up with a Cinewav screening of A Minecraft Movie from 6pm on Sunday, 6 September.
The film, rated PG for some violence, will be shown at the National Stadium for visitors looking for something considerably less strenuous than Ring Fit squats.
The National Stadium Experience itself remains open from 9am to 9pm on weekends. National Stadium venue tours are also available on selected dates through registration on The Kallang app.
Another weekend of activities is scheduled for 12 and 13 September, including another K-pop Random Play Dance session, the AL!VE Artisan Market, a Galaxy Walkathon and a screening of The Batman.
For The Kallang, the bigger idea goes beyond filling a quiet stadium between blockbuster events. As it told 8world, the aim is for the venue to become somewhere different communities can gather as part of everyday life too.
