A 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested after police found karambit knives, suspected drugs and several other prohibited items in a car in Toa Payoh.
Police officers were patrolling near Block 4 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh at about 11.50pm on Friday, 4 September, when they came across a stationary car.
Officers subsequently checked the vehicle.
Police Seized Knives, Suspected Drugs, Vapes & Cigarettes
During the checks, police found and seized karambit knives, substances suspected to be drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Duty-unpaid cigarettes and vaporisers were also found in the vehicle.
The police have not publicly identified the substances suspected to be drugs in the media reports on the case.
Both the 31-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were arrested for unauthorised possession of weapons and suspected drug-related offences.
Investigations are ongoing.
Different Agencies Are Handling the Suspected Offences
The case has also been referred to several other enforcement agencies depending on the suspected offences involved.
The suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.
The customs-related offence involving the duty-unpaid cigarettes has been referred to Singapore Customs, while the vaporiser-related offence has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority.
The police have not announced any charges against the pair as of the reports published on 6 September.
The Straits Times, citing an eyewitness who spoke to Shin Min Daily News, reported that the witness was making a food delivery when he saw a police patrol car pull up beside the stationary vehicle.
A photograph supplied by the eyewitness showed a man sitting on the ground near a police officer, while several items could be seen laid out behind a police cordon.
