Koh Gek Kuan, 44, was sentenced to 80 days’ jail on 23 October for twice pushing a seven-year-old boy to the floor after the child hit his daughter.
He had admitted voluntarily causing hurt to a child below 14. Another similar charge was considered at sentencing.
A court order prohibits identifying the boy and playground.
Boy Pushed Down Twice
On 18 August 2023, Koh’s four-year-old daughter chased the boy with an object before he hit her face.
Koh rushed over and shoved him down. As the boy sat up, Koh pushed him again. His head and left shoulder struck the floor.
A hospital check later showed bruises on the boy’s head and knee, as well as a red mark on his right cheek.
The prosecution had sought four to six months’ jail.
Koh’s lawyer sought nine to 12 weeks’ jail, saying his client regretted his disproportionate reaction.
