Yishun Landlord Killing Hearing Adjourned Over Differing Psychiatric Reports

Affendi Yusoff’s culpable homicide hearing was adjourned on 29 October 2026 after Justice Philip Jeyaretnam sought clarification of three psychiatric reports.

The 52-year-old is accused of killing his landlord, Mr Fiqri Choo Iskandar, 35, at Block 803 Yishun Ring Road on 27 July 2024.

Judge Seeks Clarification

CNA reported that prosecutors said both sides agreed Affendi had been of unsound mind, unable to understand his actions. Affendi had wanted to plead guilty.

However, the judge found the psychiatric opinions difficult to reconcile. He adjourned proceedings to arrange a hearing with the relevant psychiatrist present.

Court Hears Agreed Facts

Prosecutors read facts agreed by the defence: Affendi consumed 90 cough-suppressant pills and three gabapentin capsules overnight before repeatedly attacking Mr Fiqri with knives and a chopper.

Police found him beside Mr Fiqri’s body and arrested him.
