J A Halim, an actor who you’ll usually see on Mediacorp’s Suria channel, has unfortunately passed away on Friday, 13 December at the age of 71.

He was a veteran actor who had been working in the local entertainment industry for over 50 years, and had even starred in a movie recently.

On the morning of Wednesday, 11 December, he suffered from a stroke and was brought to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Doctors said that a blood vessel had burst, resulting in internal bleeding in a part of his brain.

He subsequently fell into a coma the next day at 4am, and has not awoken since.

Ms Nina Halim, his daughter, shared on Instagram that her father’s body will be taken to the Alsagoff Mosque for initial burial rites before being buried at the Choa Chu Kang Muslim cemetery.

Mr J A Halim leaves his family, including his wife, two children, five grandchildren and a daughter-in-law behind.

He Left His Legacy Behind

Mr J A Halim had previously worked on the short anthology 7 Letters and Naluri Ayah in his years as an actor.

Not too long ago in 2017, he also starred in the movie Gunting, which was subsequently adapted into a TV series featuring Taufik Batisah and Adlina Adil. His stellar performance in the movie led to him clinching an award for the Best Actor In A Supporting Role at Mediacorp Suria’s Pesta Perdana awards show.

Some of his works have also yet to be broadcasted but will be soon, such as the short film series A Mother’s Heart, which Mdm Aminah Ahmad, his actress wife, will be acting alongside him in. It will be shown on Mediacorp TV channels and the Merdeka Generation website.

He may have left this world, but his legacy will remain on screen and in our hearts.
