On 1 June, a TikTok user named @airconscammer posted a TikTok detailing her elderly parents’ unfortunate experience of being robbed by air-con technicians.

Battle of the TikTok usernames: first, we had @maskcrusader6, and now we have @airconscammer.

In the TikTok, @airconscammer shares that her parents had kept a half-dismantled $3,000 cash bouquet in their drawer near the air-conditioner.

One air-con servicing session later, the elderly couple discovered that some of the bank notes from the dismantled bouquet had gone missing.

Jokes aside, the TikTok user also included a photo of the drawer in which the money was kept. According to the TikTok, three distinct bank notes were torn when the elderly couple dismantled the cash bouquet—even these were eventually found missing.

Less than an hour after the air-con technicians left, the TikToker’s elderly mother took out the cash, intending to deposit the money at the bank. Surprisingly, after counting the bank notes, she realised $1,200 was missing.

Assuming that the air-conditioner technicians had stolen the missing cash while servicing the air-con, @airconscammer decided to contact the owner of the air-con servicing company immediately.

Of course, all allegations were denied. Shawn, the owner of the air-conditioner servicing company, also added that the company would not be looking further into this incident.

Lazy investigate, just say lah.

The TikToker subsequently followed up with two texts to Shawn, confirming the termination of the “yearly maintenance contract” the elderly couple had signed with the air-con servicing company.

@airconscammer expected a refund for the remaining unused air-conditioner servicing sessions, per Shawn’s offer during their earlier phone call.

However, these texts appear to have gone unanswered—Shawn seems to have “ghosted” the elderly couple and their child.

The TikToker and her elderly parents have lodged a police report regarding their predicament, and the technicians have since confessed to stealing the money. However, it is yet to be confirmed what the precise amount of money stolen is.

The next time your mother asks you to supervise the technician while they’re servicing the air-conditioner, you better listen.

Not the First Time an Air-Conditioner Technician was Caught Stealing

This isn’t the first time an air-conditioner technician has been caught stealing from homes while servicing air-conditioners.

Last month, a Malaysian man, Faiz Arwin, took to Facebook to share his experience of being robbed by air-conditioner technicians.

According to Faiz, he found RM750 cash missing from his drawer after leaving three air-conditioner technicians to their business in his room.

He immediately confronted the technicians, to which all the technicians played the “act blur” card.

Only later that night, when the technicians’ employer reached out to Faiz, did Faiz finally get confirmation that his hunch was correct—one of the technicians admitted to stealing Faiz’s money.

Fortunately, Faiz eventually had the stolen sum reimbursed to him. With any hope, the elderly couple and @airconscammer will too.
