A Summary of Alice Chang’s Controversies, From Kissing Dough to Now “Pregnant” as a Mistress

Remember Alice Chang?

Well, you might not, because when news of her kissing pretzel dough in an Auntie Anne’s outlet in Malaysia, her name wasn’t revealed and her image was heavily censored.

But with more controversies, and with her doubling down and posting more of her antics online, she has become some sort of “influencer”.

And yes, she also related to Adeline Chang, who has her fair sharer of controversies.

Here’s a summary of her Alice’s controversies.

A Summary of Alice Chang’s Controversies, From Kissing Dough to Now “Pregnant” as a Mistress

Alice Chang first gained public attention after that notorious incident at Auntie Anne’s in Mid Valley Megamall, where she was caught on camera kissing pretzel dough while working as an employee.

This incident led to her immediate dismissal and the temporary closure of the outlet for cleaning and disinfection.

Following this, Alice (allegedly) struggled to secure stable employment.

She was briefly associated with Cold Stone Creamery after applying for a part-time role but was not hired. The ice cream chain swiftly issued a statement distancing itself from her.

A short stint at Nando’s also ended in controversy when Alice was terminated after just one day for sharing sensitive details of the restaurant on social media and failing to disclose her previous employment history.

But that’s not all.

Her latest employment episode took place on 20 October 2024, when she was recruited by Indya, a festive wear brand in Kuala Lumpur.

The brand shared a viral TikTok video featuring Alice with other employees in a festive greeting for Deepavali.

@indya_my Happy Deepavali!!! Welcome to Indya Brickfields. Say “hello” to our new recruit SA Ms Alice Chang 👋🏻 We have new collections just arrived to make your festival more colourful!!! #indya #indyamy #indyakl #fashion #alicechang #indyajb #indyaklang #deepavali2024 #fashionkl ♬ พี่ชอบหนูที่สุดเลย (Speed Up) – PONCHET

However, by the early hours of the following day, she resigned. According to Alice, her mother had advised her that the RM80 daily wage was insufficient given her rising social media presence.

Indya, however, stated that they had paid her promptly.

Some people wondered if that was a publicity stunt, given that Alice had written in perfect English to Indya, which was not Alice’s style:

But hey, let’s not judge: with ChatGPT, even a 2-year-old can write a thesis about quantum mechanics with no grammar error.

Sudden Announcement of her Pregnancy

On 24 October 2024, she appeared in court to support her sister, Adeline Chang, who was charged with posting a photo of a minor online.

We’ll touch more on Adeline shortly.

Adeline pleaded guilty and expressed gratitude to her family, especially Alice, who reportedly helped pay the fine.

Now, note that Adeline’s case is just as controversial, so it’s no surprise that reporters were there, surrounding the sisters as if they were iShowSpeed.

And during this court appearance, Alice dropped another bombshell, revealing to reporters that she was pregnant.

She disclosed that the father was a married “Datuk Seri,” a prominent figure in Malaysia, though she requested privacy regarding the matter. Despite the complex situation, she described her relationship with the man as stable.

Yes, Channel 8 drama scriptwriters should learn from her, indeed.

As of now, this is Alice’s “story”.

However, Alice’s sister, Adeline, has been in the limelight much longer.

Adeline Chang’s Story

While Alice’s life has been turbulent, her sister Adeline has also garnered public attention for her behavior.

Adeline has always been active on social media, appearing in many livestreams.

Alice had appeared in online videos as well, but Adeline (before Alice’s controversies) is usually more well-known.

But it’s Adeline’s offline reputation that is controversial.

She has developed a reputation for allegedly evading payments, particularly through ride-hailing services such as Grab.

After being blacklisted, she allegedly resorted to asking strangers to book rides for her via AirAsia Ride. Her evasion of payments allegedly extends beyond transportation, as several beauty salons and restaurants have reported similar incidents, including one where she refused to pay RM5.00 for two eggs, leading to police involvement.

Now, of course, all these are not confirmed, and not related to her court case on 24 October.

On 24 October, the 24-year-old received a RM7,000 fine at Sepang Sessions Court for posting an offensive photo and caption about a minor online. The charge fell under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

The incident occurred on 30 May 2024, stemming from a misunderstanding with the child’s mother, which led Chang to post the offensive content on Facebook

The court proceedings faced delays when Chang required a Mandarin interpreter despite initially indicating she understood Malay.

Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman considered Chang’s health condition and ongoing counselling in his sentencing decision. The maximum penalty could have been RM50,000, one year in jail, or both.

The prosecution labelled Chang’s actions as cyberbullying, with the judge noting her influence amplified the impact of her offensive post.

The court warned her about the long-term consequences of labelling children negatively and advised against sharing personal issues that could harm others.
