They say not every girl dreams of being a princess.
They’re not wrong.
Some are tougher like Hermione Granger, a girl crush and role model to many for good reason. As Emma Watson once said, the warrior princess teaches young girls that they can be the warrior instead of the delicate princess everyone tells them to be.
Likewise, Alice may not be a Disney Princess per se but she is adventurous, empathetic and perfectly capable of defending herself, unlike the other Princesses we know by heart.
Alice in Wonderland
Originally known as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the novel was birthed by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, more commonly known as Lewis Carroll in 1865. The story tells of a young girl called Alice who falls down a rabbit hole and begins her adventure in a whole new world where she meets bizarre characters – both good and bad.
And if you’re a fan of Alice in Wonderland, you can now experience the mad-hatter’s world for yourself.
Experience Alice’s world just as you are
Escape from reality into Alice’s world in an upcoming exhibition called Wonderland by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).
Held at the ArtScience Museum from 13 April to 22 September 2019, Wonderland embodies the features everyone enjoys in an exhibit – immersive, playful and interactive.
What to expect
Exclusive behind-the-scenes elements
This quirky exhibit perfectly showcases how various artists and filmmakers interpreted Lewis Carroll’s story from TV programmes to games and advertisements, through an assortment of original behind-the-scenes material – costumes, puppetry and drawings etc.
I’ve always enjoyed seeing the thought process of artwork because it provides another perspective to what you already know, and more often than not, you’d start to notice the tiniest detail.
Be the hero of your own journey
Wonderland is bound to steal hearts of everyone young and old with its theatrical sets, interactive environments, spectacular props and audiovisual artworks which complement each other impeccably.
By interactive, we mean really putting yourself in the shoes of the characters.
Upon setting foot in Wonderland, there will be four maps to choose from – the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, the Queen and the Mad Hatter – which will determine how your story unfolds.
Here’s the best part: you are not required to drink any dubious concoction to become part of Alice’s world. If you know, you know.
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party
One of the main features Wonderland has to offer is of course Mad Hatter’s Tea Party which incorporates technology coupled with stunning audiovisuals to provide visitors with a well-rounded experience.

Personally, I haven’t been to many exhibitions but Wonderland is one I definitely would not want to miss out on.
