In the previous episode of Amos Yee
Yee managed to escape Singapore and fly all the way to America to seek asylum. Unlike Singapore, the laws of the land in America seems to be a better fit for our wayward Singaporean son.
Despite the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) not wanting him within their borders, the immigration court decided to let him in.
And Yee left an ominous parting comment like Mojo Jojo from PowerPuff Girls: “Now I can criticise the Singapore government without being sent to prison.”
And we thought that’s the last we’ve heard of him.
Until this happened.
Yup, his social media accounts have been suspended.
Here’s What Happened
After Yee has settled down in the US, here’s what he’s been doing: advocating for paedophilia.
For those not in the know, here’s what it means:
And you know if Gollum’s impressed, it must be something bad.
It started out pretty mild, probably in an attempt to get attention. But things gradually got out of hand, to the point where he seemed like he was being serious about it.
He hosted an online forum dedicated to paedophilia and rallied “pedo” people
Using Discord, a free software for people to join gaming communities, he founded a “pedo-friendly” discussion group.
He claimed that he will be recruiting people to the cause and is looking to round up a group of people with pro-paedophilia views to keep the discussion active.
He was even offering lessons on paedophilia on the group.
Discord responded by shutting down the server. That and deleting the accounts of all the people involved.
Public Rallied To Ban His Social Media Platforms
I’m pretty sure everyone knows how social media platform works. It put the power right in the consumers’ hands.
Don’t like this dude’s face? Report for inappropriate content. Don’t like what she’s talking? Report.
Well, you get what I mean.
And when you post stuff like this?
You can be sure something’s going to happen.
Which led to this.
Yee’s two Facebook accounts: one personal and one depicting him as a public figure has been taken down.
His Twitter account has been suspended as well.
But that doesn’t mean he’s totally voiceless.
As shown by his other Facebook account, Bob Wallace.
An Activist in the US Wants Amos Yee Back in S’pore
Meet Melissa Chen, the one who got asylum documents to Amos Yee when he was still in Singapore prison.
You could probably call her the greatest enabler of Yee’s successful asylum bid to the US.
However, even though she’s a human rights’ activists, there are some lines she wouldn’t cross.
Like paedophilia.
Yee had cut off all ties with her back in Feb 2017, claiming that she was too authoritarian in her demands for him.
And we all know Yee doesn’t do authoritarian well, don’t we?
On 10 Dec 2018, Melissa Chen uploaded a 10-minute explanation about her part in Amo’s escape from Singapore and what happened after.
But perhaps the strongest statement that she made was this:
“I am compelled to say Amos needs to be deported from the United States, and if he, in the process, gets sent back to jail in Singapore for going AWOL on National Service, I would find it extremely difficult to sympathise with that.”
She wanted it so much she even said she’ll escort him back to Singapore.
“Amos is a stain on Singapore, and a stain on the human race.”

But here’s what Singaporeans have to say about the entire incident.
Interesting.
