By now, you should have known about the late Aloysius Pang.
The 28-year-old passed away during his reservist training earlier this year, and results of the accident has since been made public. The cause was due to the servicemen’s non-compliance with SOPs.
While Aloysius’ next drama, which was scheduled to be filmed after Chinese New Year this year, has a change of cast after his injuries, he has been involved in another drama series prior to his ICT.
Called From Beijing to Moscow (北京到莫斯科), the entire project was filmed between August to October last year.
Unlike other Channel 8 or Channel U drama, this is a Toggle Original Series drama: that means it’ll only be available online.
Lest you’re not aware, Mediacorp has also been moving aggressively into the online sphere, much like what broadcasters in other countries are doing. There has been a number of Toggle Original Series and they’re not low-budget productions meant for the Internet generation—they’re just like your usual mainstream TV dramas / shows, and the only difference is that they’re not aired on TV (sometimes they eventually do).
Though, on the other hand, programmes that are on TV would definitely be on Toggle.
What is From Beijing to Moscow
As the title suggests, the 13-episode drama is set in China, Mongolia and Russia.
The plot revolves around a man, Kaixiang (played by Taiwanese actor River Huang), who lost his memory after a car accident. Together with his wife and his good friend Kenneth, who’s played by Aloysius, they took a trip from Beijing to Moscow as Kaixiang’s only memory is of a trip from Beijing to Moscow with his old girlfriend, who’s played by Felicia Chin.
Produced by August Pictures, a local production house, a number of teasers about this drama have been posted on their Facebook since Wednesday.
This is one with Aloysius:

As you can see, it looks to be a beautifully shot drama with mind-blowing scenic landscapes in both China and Russia.
I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking forward to it.
