We’ve all see the buzz and billboard ads on how Apple Pay’s arrived in Singapore. Android users are probably getting anxious as they don’t want to be left behind. Is Google exploring anything similar?
YES!
A couple of days back, Google launched its very own version of the mobile payment service. Guys and girls say hello to my friend, Android Pay.
The function is at the moment available to the UK market, provided that the devices used are NFC-enabled.
What Does Android Pay Do?
You’ll no longer need to use your credit or debit cards to make payments at stores. All you have to do is link your MasterCard or Visa card to your Android smartphone, and you can make payments with it!
There will be a terminal at supporting stores for you to swipe your phone against and register the sale.
In fact, the app can also be used to pay for items that are sold on third-party applications.
How Does This Benefit You?
You’d be able to go cashless and cardless for one! You also don’t have to keep on keying your payment details every single time you make purchases across websites or apps.
Are There Any Other Similar Apps?
Yes, in fact, Samsung’s take on the latest bit of tech is called Samsung Pay (duh!). This app is available in South Korea and in the United States right now.
When Will Android Pay Start in Singapore?
There’s been no specific launch date, but we hear that it’s going to be pretty, pretty soon. From what we’ve read, the launch in the UK is a testing ground of sorts. If all goes well, Android Pay will be rolled out globally in batches this year.
Honestly, I can’t wait. And let’s get one thing straight.
There’s a storm brewing. Apple Pay vs Android Pay vs Samsung Pay comparisons are going to start, and each smartphone die-hard fan is going to want to have his say. It’s the battle for whose mobile payment app is the best.
Let’s just keep our fingers crossed and hope that all companies deliver the best cashless + cardless payment service for their clients.
Your phone will officially be your bank card in a couple of months. Stay tuned and you’ll get more news about it from us right here, for sure!
