More Rain Expected in First 2 Weeks of April, But It’ll Still be Hot

We are all too familiar with the recent weather patterns: hot, hotter, and hottest. It’s as if the entire country has transformed into a sauna.

However, there’s a silver lining on the horizon.

Thankfully, this isn’t an April Fools’ joke by the NEA.

The last two weeks in Singapore have been particularly dry, with scorching temperatures so intense that reports of the UV index reaching extreme levels dominated the news.

In the preceding fortnight, daily maximum temperatures frequently surpassed 35°C. The highest recorded temperature was an astounding 36.3°C in Choa Chu Kang on 24 March 2024.

The good news is that the first half of April 2024 is expected to be wetter than the past two weeks.

Moderate to heavy thundery showers are anticipated across Singapore on most afternoons, which should bring some relief from the heat.

The forecast suggests that the total rainfall for the first two weeks of April 2024 will be near the average for most parts of the island.

Although more showers are expected during the initial half of April, daily maximum temperatures are still likely to range between 34°C and 35°C on most days.

However, temperatures may climb above 35°C on days with less cloud coverage.

So, it’s still a good idea to keep your umbrella handy.
