Crime doesn’t pay.
And it appears that yet another quartet has learnt that lesson the hard way.
Everything About the Armed Robbery in Jurong by 3 Young Men Between 19 to 22
4 men have been apprehended for an armed robbery in Jurong Gateway Road.
The crime occurred on Thursday (19 November 2020) afternoon.
They were caught the following day on Friday (20 November 2020).
According to preliminary investigations, three out of the four had purportedly executed the robbery at a shop unit.
One of them allegedly directed a knife at a female staff member, dragged her by her hair and asked for money.
She was then hauled into a room, where she was subsequently confined.
The perpetrators managed to flee with around $48,000.
Meanwhile, the fourth man who was apprehended had supposedly assisted in the disposal of the knife during the operation.
However, officers from the Police Intelligence Department and Clementi Police Division managed to recognise the offenders within a time span of just 12 hours.
Reconnaissance
According to the news report, two of the four men had visited the shop prior to the robbery.
Apparently, one had a motorcycle helmet on when interacting with the female staff member, but she eventually recognised him from his eyes and his soccer jersey.
The duo later returned to the shop with another man, and purportedly asked for a loan.
Suddenly, one of them leapt across and pulled her by her hair, while brandishing a knife.
The other two then kept watch as the third man went to look for the safe, with the staff member being dragged in tow.
Sentence
$30,000 of the stolen cash has since been recovered.
The police are currently trying to recover the rest of the amount.
Marc E, the commander of Clementi Police Division and Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police, said: “The men involved in the armed robbery displayed an egregious disregard of the law.
“The police will spare no effort in pursuing such criminals to bring them to justice.”
As for the four men, they are set to appear in court on Saturday (21 November 2020), during which they will be charged with armed robbery with hurt.
Should they be found guilty, they may face between five and 20 years of jail, and a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.
