Australian Man Who Assaulted Taxi Driver Said ‘F*** You’ To Judge

Judge: You have assaulted a 43-year-old taxi driver and used criminal force to deter a police officer from discharging his duty. Do you accept these charges?

Scott John Ashby: Yes, your honour. I am deeply sorry for my actions and will accept my punishment.

This is what Scott John Ashby should have said. Instead, he said:

“F*** you”.

Assaulted Taxi Driver and Police Officer

On 10 September last year, 43-year-old cabby Oh Kuan Hui picked up Scott John Ashby, a 46-year-old Australian man, at a taxi stand near Suntec at around 9.30 pm.

Oh noticed that Ashby was drunk. According to Yahoo, he had drunk five cans of 500ml Anchor beer with his friends earlier.

And as well all know, stories that start with So there I was, drunk as a skunk after knocking back five cans of beer rarely end well.

After arriving at his destination, Ashby alighted without paying the cab fee of $16.70. Oh, understandably, got out of his cab and asked for his money.

Ashby graciously accepted, apologized, and paid the cab fare.

This is what Ashby should have done. Instead, he pushed Oh twice on the chest, causing the taxi driver to fall.

After Oh got back on his feet, Ashby pushed him again, causing him to hit a nearby metal gate.

This impact dislodged the panel of the gate.

Oh called the police and two officers, including Sergeant Tay Ming Wei, soon arrived.

The officers asked Ashby for his particulars, and though he initially refused, he eventually retrieved his employment pass from his wallet.

But, as we’ve learned from his previous actions, Ashby enjoys being a prick.

So instead of handing his employment pass over to the police, he 🎵 threw it on the ground🎵 and said “f***ing take it”.

Sergeant Tay then gave Ashby a warning and attempted to calm him down.

When Ashby refused, Tay decided to arrest him, angering him further. The Australian resisted his arrest by swinging his arms aggressively and hit Tay’s lower lip.

Yeah, this guy’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he’s certainly a tool.

The two officers eventually managed to handcuff him, though Ashby kept abusing them with vulgarities.

Tay sustained tenderness on his chin, while Oh sustained tenderness over his left hip and abrasions over his left hand, left wrist and left elbow.

Okay, so maybe he was drunk so that’s understandable…but no.

Even without five cans of 500ml Anchor beer, he still sounded drunk.

Misbehaviour in Court

Instead of showing remorse for his actions, Ashby displayed nothing but contempt towards the judge in court.

When Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Yen Seow was reading out the statement of facts, Ashby kept scoffing, saying “What a travesty” and “wow”.

Then, when District Judge Christopher Tan asked “You agree to these facts? Nobody can force you to plead…”

…Ashby replied, “You are, Your Honour. I have lost my job.”

Moreover, when the judge asked Ashby’s lawyer Too Xing Ji whether he needed to take instructions from his client, Ashby shouted, “I do not need to!”

However, after his hearing concluded, Ashby seemed to accept his punishment and walked away dejectedly.

OK, no, of course, he didn’t do that.

After agreeing to the facts without dispute, Ashby was heard saying, “F*** you, f*** this country, f*** this judicial system”.

It’s safe to say he wasn’t pleased.

Due to this court case, Ashby’s employment pass will not be renewed. But who would want to hire him anyway?

Boss: Ashby, you’ve been late for the past two weeks. Could you please come to work on time?

Ashby: F*** you, f*** this company, and f*** this system.

The 46-year-old was sentenced to seven weeks’ jail and will have to return to Australia after his sentence.

His lawyer said that Ashby suffered from depression and was on anti-depressants.

In addition to losing his job, he will not be able to visit his children, who reside in Singapore.
