Tragedies happen when we least expect it and at times, it is beyond our control. In other instances, someone’s irresponsible actions could very well mean someone else’s life or death.
This was what happened at a Spottiswoode Park Road condominium on 18 August 2019. Killer litter caused the death of 73-year-old Nasiari Sunee. He was at a family member’s house warming party when a wine bottle hit him.
The victim was brought to Singapore General Hospital.
Unfortunately, he passed away the next morning.
He Allegedly Knew That Wine Bottle Would Likely Hit Someone
An Australian man, Andrew Gosling, 47 appeared in court on 21 September 2019. According to The Straits Times, he allegedly threw a wine bottle from the seventh floor even though he knew that it would likely hit someone.
Gosling was initially charged in August with one count of causing death by performing a rash act.
The penalty for this is a jail term of up to five years and a fine.
He Will Face More Serious Charges
However, he will now be charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt with an instrument. The penalty for this offence is up to 15 years of jail and the possibility of being caned or fined.
He was not offered bail on 21 September 2019 and his case has been adjourned to October 2018.
The Australian man’s parents had previously said that Gosling was a “loving” and “caring” man who did not have a “malicious bone in his body”. They are also in full support of him.
