Samurai Burger and Seaweed Shaker Fries Return on 21 September The Samurai burger and seaweed shaker fries will be available from 21 September at all McDonald’s outlets islandwide. So no, you don’t have to travel to a specific outlet to taste the burger. For those of us who are couch potatoes, don’t fret. The burger and fries will be available on delivery platforms as well. The single-patty burgers will be sold for $7, while the double-patty burgers will be priced at $9. If you prefer not to order the Samurai burger a la carte, you can get it as part of a McDonald’s Extra Value Meal from $9 or $11, depending on the number of patties you decide on. Diners can choose between chicken or beef patties. Diners can get the Samurai burger with the all-time favourite Seaweed McShaker fries as a side. Besides old favourites coming back, diners can also look forward to the brand-new white peach yoghurt pie. The pie will be priced from $1.80 and is available as a side if they get a McDonald’s Extra Value Meal. Don’t say bojio. Another Exciting Thing When people think of samurais, their minds automatically go to Japanese culture. If you love manga, here is another thing you can look forward to. McDonald’s will release weekly chapters of a special manga series for the next five weeks. Describing the manga as “an extraordinary adventure of food and foes”, the chapters will go up on the McDonald’s Instagram page. Another Good Deal Some prefer to feast on classics like the McSpicy rather than the limited edition Samurai burgers. For those who prefer the classics, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a deal you can redeem via the McDonald’s app. On 22 September, you can purchase a McSpicy Meal and get two extra pieces of Chicken McCrispy for free. The deal will be available from 11 am to 6 pm, so mark your schedules. Furthermore, diners can choose between Honey Soy or Spicy flavour for the free fried chicken. If you’re too lazy to go to a physical McDonald’s, the deal will be available via McDelivery during the same period. Love McDonald’s but Trying to Keep Healthy? He said it would take about “20km to burn off that Double McSpicy set”, though he acknowledged that different people burn calories at different rates. You can have your own strong opinions about their food, but they have definitely put in some effort to improve the quality of their food, transparency of ingredients and their healthier offerings. Of course, they still have plenty of high fat, fried and oily options which are probably not the best choice to have often if you’re trying to manage your weight (everything in moderation!). But instead of demonising the food, let’s instead learn what are some of their lower calorie and higher protein options so that we can make better choices should we have a meal there. I based lower calories as foods under 300 kcal and higher protein for foods which have a protein weightage of >25% (relatively higher than the rest). You definitely could fit some of this into your diet even if you’re trying to cut. But you probably would want to get the Coke Zero and corn as your side!
