Normally, when you see fights on the streets, you’ll jeer at the combatants, wondering what’s wrong with them.
But you’re probably not stopping them because, one, someone else will do it, and two, it’s more important to get it on video.
However, as emotions get high, people might get carried away and fights could get serious, just like the one at Beach Road.
Fight At Beach Road Turns Serious After One Died
On 13 Sep at around 3pm, two men got into a heated dispute at Block 6 Beach Road.
When the police were alerted and got to the scene, they saw a 56-year-old man at the scene while a 67-year-old man was lying motionless on the ground.
Witnesses said that the fight was heated, and at one point in time, the younger man had sat on the older man and punched him.
The older man reportedly did not have the strength to defend himself from the assault.
The older man was urgently moved to the ambulance via a stretcher while one officer was continuously applying CPR to the victim.
According to CNA, the man was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital but was pronounced dead later that day.
56YO Man Arrested For Murder
A series of videos of the aftermath was posted on Facebook, filmed by someone at the scene.
In the second video, officers could be seen escorting an emotionless man, wearing all black, away from the scene.
The man will be charged with murder on Tuesday, CNA reported.
Daughter-In-Law Didn’t Know The Other Man
Several women were caught on one of the videos trying to approach the deceased but were stopped by police officers on the scene.
They started wailing after hearing about what happened.
According to a report from Lianhe Wanbao, the daughter-in-law of the deceased said she didn’t know who the man who assaulted her father-in-law is.
She also had no idea why the man had reacted so violently.
Investigations are ongoing.
