People always say that you’ll never know when you’ll die, but what if you receive a note about it ten days before you get attacked with a knife?
That is exactly what happened to Mr Wu, except that in this case, there was thankfully no death involved.
Received A Mysterious Death Threat Note
Mr Wu, a coffee shop owner, discovered a mysterious note with an ominous message on the staircase outside his office about 10 days ago.
The note was written in Chinese and it translates to:
“Kill!
I’m not afraid of dying, let alone scared by your many CCTV cameras.”
He did not think too much of it and continued to go about his usual life.
Everything seemed fine, until two afternoons ago when a man charged into his office holding a knife with a 15-cm blade shouting “I want to kill you!”.
Sounds exactly like something that came out of a horror film.
Attacker Had “Superhuman Strength”
Mr Wu barely had time to react before the man started slashing at him.
Luckily, his son was just next door and heard the commotion, and came in immediately to find out what was going on.
“My son rushed over to save me and ended up getting hurt too. His wounds are quite deep, but thankfully he is in stable condition,” said Mr Wu to Shin Min Daily News.
He also described the attacker as someone who had “superhuman strength”.
“The knife was all bloody, and I struggled with him for about five minutes before I managed to wrestle the knife out of his hands,” Mr Wu continued.
“(The man) looked like he had superhuman strength. My left arm was slashed, and my son was slashed several times.”
The ‘superhuman’ could only be stopped when two more of his employees arrived to pin him down.
Mr Wu’s son was severely injured, and he had a laceration on his chest and slash wounds on one of his arms. He was also bleeding profusely.
“I felt heartbroken, and I panicked when I saw that my son had lost so much blood,” he said.
The Police Have Arrested A Suspect
The incident occurred at Block 27 Bendemeer Road at around 1pm, on Tuesday.
The police were alerted and they arrested a 73-year-old suspect for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, and he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).
The area was cordoned off for five hours while the police conducted investigations, and they also took away closed-circuit television footage. The police have also seized the weapon that was used.
The suspect’s neighbour informed Shin Min Daily News that he would often go to that coffee shop to drink. He had gotten into trouble with the law before, including an incident where he set a coffee shop on fire.
Mr Wu himself also mentioned that the man had caused issues at his coffee shop before.
“He’s considered a regular customer, but he had a dispute with one of my employees previously. After that, he kept causing trouble,” he said.
Maybe this guy just has a thing against coffee shops and coffee shop owners?
After the incident, Mr Wu was taken to Raffles Hospital and his son was taken to TTSH.
The suspect is expected to be charged in court today.
