On 25 Feb 2021, 10 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Singapore.
Eight of them are imported cases, and two are local cases.
As my handsome, cat-loving colleague said, they are back.
And on the evening of 25 Feb, MOH released more information about the cases.
1 of the Community Cases Reported on 25 Feb is an Enrichment School Teacher
According to MOH’s press release, one of the community cases reported yesterday is a 27-year-old Singapore PR working as an enrichment school teacher.
She works at the Yishun branch of Berries World of Learning School located on 18 Yishun Avenue 9.
She experienced symptoms, a runny nose, on 23 Feb after work and went to a GP clinic the next day.
During her visit, she was tested for Covid-19.
Her result returned positive on 25 Feb 2021 and she was sent to Singapore General Hospital in an ambulance.
Her serological test result is still pending.
School Temporarily Closed
Her workplace, the Yishun branch of Berries World of Learning School, will be closed until 28 Feb 2021 for cleaning and disinfection.
All identified close contacts, including colleagues and family members, have been isolated and placed on quarantine.
They will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period to detect asymptomatic cases.
Serological tests will also be conducted.
Epidemiological investigations are still ongoing.
Other Community Case Was Vaccinated
The other community case is a 33-year-old Malaysian working as a lashing specialist with PSA.
He is an asymptomatic case.
When he arrived from Malaysia on 23 Dec 2020, he served the mandatory SHN period and his test during his SHN on 3 Jan 2021 returned negative.
He was detected when he took the swab test again as part of the Rostered Routine Testing (RRT), and the pooled result returned positive.
He took an individual test on 23 Feb and his returns returned positive on 24 Feb 2021, upon which he was sent to NCID.
His serological test results returned positive, indicating that it’s likely a current infection.
His previous RRT testing, conducted on 13 Feb 2021, returned negative results.
It was added that the patient has received both Covid-19 vaccination doses – the first on 22 Jan 2021 and the second on 14 Feb 2021.
MOH added that it’s not strange that he’ll contract Covid-19 as the vaccine requires a few weeks before immunity is granted.
Details On Other Cases
The remaining eight cases are imported cases.
Two are Singaporeans and two are Singapore PRs who returned from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Three other cases are work permit holders, all foreign domestic workers, arriving from Indonesia and the Philippines.
The remaining case is a short-term visit pass holder who came to Singapore from India to visit a family member.
All of the imported cases were placed on SHN upon arrival.
