The discussions about Jennie’s energy levels during her Coachella sets caused a previous interview to resurface, where she shared her thoughts on eating.

Doesn’t Enjoy Eating

In a January 31 episode of the YouTube show “Hyell’s Club” hosted by Girls’ Day member Hyeri, Jennie made striking comments about her relationship with food.

During their conversation, Jennie admitted that she doesn’t particularly enjoy eating. “Not really. People around me feel sorry for that, too,” she told Hyeri when asked if she likes eating.

The conversation then took an interesting turn when Hyeri asked if Jennie would replace meals with a pill if possible. Without hesitation, Jennie responded, “I would absolutely love to. I wonder why something like that hasn’t been developed yet.”

Jennie further explained her position, saying, “I’m sorry. I just apologize now. I used to say that a lot back in the day. I was always too lazy to eat or decide what to eat.” She did note some improvement in her attitude toward food, adding, “But now I’ve gotten much better. Now I find myself saying things like ‘Oh, I want to eat Tteokbokki!'”

This interview resurfaced in a viral TikTok discussing Jennie’s Coachella performance, with some users suggesting a connection between her diet and her perceived lack of energy while performing.

Many commenters brought up Jennie’s previous statements about eating and the importance of having muscles as a performer. The discussion expanded to K-pop idols’ diets in general, with some calling for industry-wide changes.

While discussions about diets remain sensitive, the focus for many fans appears to be on entertainers having enough energy to perform without compromising their health.
