A blue BMW hit a man in an army uniform and dragged him along on the car bonnet for 30 metres. Here’s what you need to know about it.
Blue BMW Hits Man in Army Uniform; Drags Him Along on Car Bonnet for 30 Metres
On Friday (20 September), Singaporeans driving along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) heading towards Changi Airport at 1 pm found themselves stuck in a jam at the Steven Road exit.
You might be thinking: “But that’s normal lah… PIE always jam one.” Well, that’s where you’re wrong — the jam this time had a rather strange cause.
According to Shin Min Daily News, there was an accident between a small truck and a red car at the Steven Road exit at the PIE. After the accident, the 36-year-old driver of the red car had allegedly called someone to pick him up — and that “someone” appeared to be a blue BMW which later pulled up on the expressway.
The driver of the red car ran across multiple lanes on the road towards the blue BMW and got into the passenger seat. At the same time, a 28-year-old man in army uniform, who was allegedly on the small truck involved in the earlier accident, ran towards the blue BMW as well.
And this is where the story gets interesting.
After the 36-year-old driver of the red car gets into the blue BMW, the blue BMW immediately surges forward into the man in the army uniform, who appeared to be trying to stop the BMW from moving off.
As a result, the 28-year-old man in the army uniform was dragged along the BMW’s bonnet for approximately 30 metres before falling onto the road — he was later taken to the hospital.
All we can say is this — it might be F1 weekend, but that doesn’t mean you can start driving like it’s F1 also lah.
According to Shin Min Daily News, after the blue BMW drove off, it returned to the PIE and exited at Thomson Road, before returning to the PIE once again.
Thanks to this incident, the Steven Road exit on the PIE was closed off, presumably for investigations — all vehicles which were at the exit were asked to back up and take a detour. Multiple police cars, motorcycles and a tow truck were also spotted at the scene of the incident.
36-Year-Old Driver of Red Car Arrested for Driving Without a Valid License and Possessing a Weapon
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the 36-year-old driver of the red car (who is also the man who hopped onto the blue BMW) has since been arrested.
He was arrested for driving without a valid license and possessing a weapon — the weapon in question being a knuckleduster.
Huh? A knuckleduster?
Yes, you read that right. The 36-year-old had a knuckleduster. It’s unclear why — we can only wait for more details to be revealed once investigations are concluded.
