Unless you watch one Fast & Furious movie a day, you’re unlikely to witness cars flipping on the road on a daily basis.
And if you do watch one Fast & Furious movie a day, you might be led to believe that you can safely accelerate to alarmingly high speeds without the risk of hurting yourself or those around you.
But there’s a reason why we’re constantly told that speeding kills; the higher the speed of a vehicle, the shorter the time a driver has to stop and avoid a crash.
Despite this fact, drivers continue to speed, and accidents continue to occur.
3 People Taken to Hospital After Accident on ECP
An accident involving two cars took place along East Coast Parkway (ECP) in the early hours of Saturday (9 Jan), according to CNA.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the road traffic accident at around 2am.
The incident occurred along the ECP towards the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) after Bedok South Exit.
Two women, aged 23 and 24, and a 25-year-old man were conscious when taken to Changi General Hospital, according to police.
Video Of BMW Flipping Over Goes Viral
A video of the incident was uploaded to SG Road Vigilante’s YouTube channel on Friday (8 Jan), and has quickly made the rounds since then, garnering over 81,000 views in a couple of days.
The video shows a BMW crashing into the road divider on the rightmost lane, flipping over, and landing on the other side of the road.
According to a Facebook post by SG Road Vigilante, the BMW driver was speeding and attempted to overtake the car which recorded the incident on its dashboard camera from the left.
The video starts off with footage from the camcar’s rear-view camera, which shows three speeding vehicles racing past the camcar.
Two flew past the camcar on its left, and one on its right.
The video then switches to the dashboard camera, showing a car on the rightmost lane racing past the camcar.
Then, a loud bump can be heard as a BMW races past the camcar from the leftmost lane and slams into the road divider on the right.
The loud bump may have been the sound of the BMW grazing the camcar as it attempted to overtake it, causing it to swerve out of control.
The BMW then flips over after crashing into the divider and lands on the other side of the road.
Photos of Damaged Car Shared Online
Photos of a badly damaged BMW being towed away were shared on Facebook later in the day, with the caption saying it was the same car from the accident on the ECP.
Police investigations are ongoing.
