Body of Missing Singaporean Woman Found in JB River
In Malaysia, Johor Bahru (JB) police officers found a body floating in Sungai Pelentong at around 10.45 am yesterday (2 February).
The deceased was later confirmed to be a 64-year-old Singaporean woman who had gone missing two days prior.
She, a Singaporean Indian, had married a Malaysian Chinese and she moved back to Permas Jaya in JB with her family in August last year.
Disappearance Prior To Death
After she left her house on 31 January during Chinese New Year eve and did not return, her family filed a missing person’s report.
She had also left her handphone, wallet, passport and Singapore IC at home before leaving her house.
Her family members, who were anxious regarding this matter, shared details about her disappearance on social media sites in hope that they would be able to find her.

According to the post above, the deceased had allegedly been struggling with mild depression.
The posts also included phone numbers, urging the public to contact these numbers if they had any leads or details regarding the case to offer.

Family Has Identified the Body
Her family has identified the body and will be collecting her body from the hospital today (3 February).
According to the police, an autopsy was conducted today as well.
When interviewed by China Press, the deceased’s daughter explained that police officers had visited the family in the morning to inform them that they found a body similar to her mother’s. She was able to identify that it was her mother through the clothes in the photographs that the police officers showed her.
Her daughter also thanked netizens for spreading the news and trying to help the family find her mother.
