Imagine taking a leisurely stroll through Botanic Gardens, basking in the welcoming warmth of sunshine, drinking in the sights of flora and fauna.

It’s shaping up to be a lovely, albeit uneventful day, when you suddenly chance upon a whole family of otters rolling around on the pavement in what seems like almost-choreographed motion.

An otter-ly a mind-boggling sight indeed.

You rub your eyes in confusion, thinking you must be slowly losing your mind due to sleep deprivation, but when you open your eyes, they’re still there, the sight clear as day.

Are these otters drunk, high, or possessed? You may wonder.

Well, that’s exactly what netizens were trying to figure out too.

Over 10 Otters Found “Wiggling” on the Pavements and Grass at Botanic Gardens; Netizens Wonder What They Are Doing

A reddit post uploaded by user djmpence featured a video of otters “wiggling” around on the grass and pavement in Botanic Gardens.

Perhaps even more amusing are the reactions from netizens, all wagering guesses on what exactly these otters were up to.

One netizen commented that they were “[relieving] the great itch”. Indeed, with the way these otters were rolling around furiously on their backs, you would think they were trying to reach the places their paws couldn’t.

But all of them, at the same time?

Still others suggested that perhaps the otters were in a collective drunken stupor, and “behaving as if grass were catnip”.

Of course, the comical situation induced a series of puns, with one netizen playfully commenting that this was “otter chaos”.

Netizens laughed along at the jokes, but some also took the opportunity to warn others to be careful around these otters because they can apparently get “quite territorial and defensive”.

But no one could deny that they were, in the words of another punny netizen, “otter-ly cute”.

Otters Feasting in Fish Ponds at Botanic Gardens

This certainly isn’t the first time that otters have been spotted having a whale of a time in Botanic Gardens.

Back in 2020, Stomper Michael was strolling through Botanic Gardens when he saw a bunch of otters basking in the sun and feeding on fish in the Sundial Garden, all the while enjoying life to the fullest.

He said that it was his first time seeing otters in the Botanic Gardens.

According to Facebook group OtterWatch, the otters belonged to the Zouk family.
