But some criminals can’t help themselves. If you’ve been stealing women’s underwear for years, then not even a pandemic can stop you.
Man Charged for Leaving House Without Mask to Steal Bra & Underwear During Circuit Breaker Period
A serial bra thief pleaded guilty to multiple charges after more than 100 bras and 41 pairs of panties were found in his house.
39-year-old Lee Chee Kin had stolen the underwear between April 2018 and April 2020, and had even gone out during the circuit breaker without a mask to do his dirty deed.
According to CNA, Lee selected the underwear “based on their appearance”, a detail I’m sure the court did not want to hear.
Judges can’t say TMI, can they?
The underwear thief would climb over back gates and enter laundry areas to take them before climbing back out.
“The accused used the stolen bras and panties for his own sexual gratification,” said Deputy Public Prosecutor Kwang Jia Min.
Thanks for that, I thought he was using them as makeshift face masks.

Last July, the 39-year-old had been arrested and 106 bras and 41 pairs of panties were found in his house.
Yet even though he was caught and a deadly virus was spreading, Lee continued to indulge his fetish while out on bail.
This time, he stole at least 34 bras, 42 pairs of panties, and one pair of bra straps, entering victims’ homes on at least 30 occasions to do so.
Some of the stolen items were not recovered, but none of the victims wanted them back anyway.

One victim, in particular, had many pairs of underwear stolen, as Lee entered her home on four occasions between February and March 2019, and took 12 bras and 12 pairs of panties worth S$1,000 from the back yard.

But this isn’t the only charge Lee’s facing.
As you know, going out to steal underwear is not a reasonable excuse to leave your home during the circuit breaker.
Not only that, but Lee left his house to steal without wearing a mask.

Lee also admitted to using another man’s debit card to spend around S$91 using the card’s payWave function at Ang Mo Kio MRT station.
Why limit yourself to underwear as a thief, right?
Hopes to “Do Something Good For Society”
Lee’s prosecutor said she does not currently have information on whether his fetish is a proper psychiatric condition, and whether his condition led to him committing his offences.
This is why she said she wouldn’t object to Lee receiving a Mandatory Treatment Order if he is assessed to be suitable.
A Mandatory Treatment Order (MTO) directs an offender suffering from certain treatable psychiatric conditions to undergo psychiatric treatment for a period of no longer than 24 months, according to State Courts.
In his defence, Lee’s lawyer said his client’s father had died last year and his uncle recently underwent surgery, two issues which affected Lee. He said his client is remorseful for his actions.

Lee said he hopes for a chance to see a doctor and “do something good for society”.
The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to 10 charges of theft, criminal trespass, unauthorised access to computer material, as well as breach of Covid-19 regulations. Another 14 charges will be taken into consideration for sentencing.
The judge called for the suitability report and adjourned sentencing to 1 Jun.
At least now bras and panties all over the country can rest easy knowing they won’t be taken away by a stranger.
