Depending on what you think of brains as food, you’d have different reactions to this flavour.

One is the camp that goes ew but why.

The other is the lip-smacking version because you’ve tasted brain soup and liked it.

And there’s the last camp, who just go brainsssssssssssssssssss.

Introducing this…thingy, which is “brain-flavoured” though we’re not sure if they use real brains for it.

Noumiso (脳味噌) flavoured Zomramen, taste-tested by SoraNews24

Image: SoraNews24

You can find the product on Amazon Japan for 378 Yen (~S$4.80). An eyeball, some fingers, blue noodles, and some soggy brain things on the packet image. Hmmmm yum.

Disappointingly, the stuff on the packets is not included.

The good folks at SoraNews24 taste-tested this.

Like any Maggi Mee, just dump the whole packet of seasoning into the saucepan.

But the main question: does it really taste like brains?

Image: SoraNews24

As it turns out, nope. It tastes like Miso.

Noumiso (脳味噌) translates to brain. But by looking at the name, you might have thought about Miso; like miso soup. So yes, that is just a clever pun for a miso flavoured ramen.

Which is simultaneously disappointing and relieving at the same time.

Making a grosser version with eyeballs

But maybe you wanted to make the grosser version. In that case, here’s a YouTube video showing how to make eyeballs using quail eggs by PechaPecha Parpy17.

It’s a product of the brand/mascot Zombear

What is Zombear? It’s this bear, as taken from their website:

English left intact for the full flavour./ Image: Zombear

If you can’t read the captions:

It is a walk 70 years looking for a boy

No sense of direction of extreme

The number of times to get lost in many cases

But… Luck is very good

From OTARU, HOKKAIDO, JAPAN

But ok, basically it’s a back story of the bear spending 70 years looking for its master. I’m not really sure whether this is a revenge story or a heartwarming one, but look at the mascot for yourself to decide:

Just look at cute the bear is when building a tower of cards:

Maybe this is why people like pre-cut jeans. It gives you some kind of feeling like you reunited with some long lost friend.

There are other Zombear merchandise they sell

Like this blue hotpot soup broth.

And while the Thais got their green curry, Zombear has blue curry:

Of course, it’s not limited to food.

Here’s a group of Zombears (or maybe they have different names? I’m not sure).

And then here’s a shirt:

You can buy all these on their Rakuten, and they appear to be pretty popular.

As a zombie who comes to work and brainlessly type stuff, I can’t say that I don’t feel a certain connection to their products.
